ARA-290 – Research-Grade Erythropoietin-Derived Peptide (Helix B Fragment)
ARA-290, also known as cibinetide, is a synthetic peptide derived from the helix B region of erythropoietin (EPO). Unlike full-length erythropoietin, ARA-290 consists of a short, non-erythropoietic amino acid sequence designed to preserve selective structural features of the parent molecule while eliminating hematopoietic activity. In laboratory research settings, ARA-290 is utilized to investigate EPO-derived signaling motifs, peptide–receptor interaction models, and structure–function relationships associated with helix B–specific domains.
Due to its truncated structure, ARA-290 does not activate classical erythropoietin receptors responsible for red blood cell production in vitro. This functional distinction allows researchers to isolate and examine non-hematopoietic signaling pathways and receptor interactions associated with EPO-derived peptides. Its defined sequence and synthetic consistency make ARA-290 a valuable research tool for mechanistic studies, intracellular signaling analysis, and peptide-based biochemical exploration conducted under controlled laboratory conditions.
